Actress Baek Jin-hee, who is set to marry in January next year, revealed for the first time the English name of her fiancé, who had been shrouded in mystery.
On the 8th, Baek Jin-hee posted a video titled "I have an announcement for you" on her YouTube channel and personally announced her marriage.
Sitting in front of the camera, Baek Jin-hee, with a trembling voice, said, "The day has come when these words come out of my mouth. I still can't believe it," and then, applauding, directly announced, "I am getting married."
In particular, Baek Jin-hee also cautiously spoke about the fiancé many people were curious about. The two maintained a long-distance relationship while traveling between Korea and Canada. Baek Jin-hee said, "I flew 14 hours to meet oppa, and he did the same," adding, "Long-distance was not easy."
In the process, she revealed her fiancé's English name for the first time. Baek Jin-hee said, "My future husband's English name is Henry," and said she was curious how her fiancé would react when he heard about their marriage. She also revealed that her fiancé is one of her YouTube subscribers. She said that when the video goes up he gives "pithy feedback," calling him "one of the scary subscribers," which drew laughter.
There was also a reason Baek Jin-hee decided to marry. Having started acting at 20, she admitted that because of the emotional ups and downs inherent in the profession, there were few moments when she felt life was stable. For her, the fiancé was someone who helped her find balance. Baek Jin-hee explained that even when her situation and emotions were at a high point or she was in a pit of sadness, he "provided a great sense of stability that allowed us to meet in the middle," and through that she naturally decided to marry. She added that the fact the two share similar values in how they view life was also an important reason.
She also directly answered questions about her fiancé's occupation. Baek Jin-hee said he is a "ordinary office worker," adding, "He is not a businessman or financier, and he does not possess great wealth." As he is not a public figure, she was cautious about revealing specific personal details. She said that now it is not just an individual meeting another individual but a meeting of families, and she wants to be considerate so as not to cause harm or hurt to her fiancé and their families.
The two plan to hold their wedding in January next year. Baek Jin-hee said she still can't believe it but is preparing for the wedding step by step amid excitement and worry. She spoke calmly about her thoughts on marriage, saying she does not think marriage itself is the start of happiness but rather that she is choosing to close one chapter of her life well and begin a second chapter with her fiancé. Acknowledging that responsibility accompanies her choice, she expressed a determination to accept differences, harmonize with one another and become more mature people.
Her acting career will remain unchanged after marriage. Baek Jin-hee said she will continue to work on projects while traveling between Korea and Canada, emphasizing, "I have no intention of giving up either." She will also continue YouTube. She plans to share with subscribers, within possible limits, everyday life traveling between Seoul and Canada as well as small moments of wedding preparation. Baek Jin-hee said she is happy that YouTube is a medium that can fully show her true self, and she vowed to show growth as an actress and as a person.
Meanwhile, Baek Jin-hee is scheduled to hold her wedding on Jan. 23 next year with a non-celebrity office worker who lives in Canada.
