Actor Kim Sung-oh once again proved his irreplaceable presence and overwhelming acting prowess through the Netflix series "Mousetrap."
The Netflix series "Mousetrap," starring Kim Sung-oh, rose to No. 5 on the global top 10 non-English shows three days after its release, and in its second week it recorded 4.4 million views, claiming the No. 1 spot on the global top 10 non-English shows and reaching the top 10 in a total of 45 countries.
"Mousetrap" is a pursuit thriller that tells the story of novelist Moon Jae, whose name, face and life are entirely stolen by the mysterious being "Mousetrap," loan shark Noja, who tries to recover lost money, and detective Sun-yong as they chase the identity of Mousetrap.
Kim Sung-oh, who played identity laundromat operator Seung-gyu in the story, injected a tense undercurrent into the narrative and captured the attention of global viewers. In particular, Seung-gyu's ruthless side shown during the tense confrontations with Noja (played by Sul Kyung-gu) delivered a chilling sense of dread to viewers.
Kim Sung-oh maximized immersion by expertly modulating tempo amid the tangled relationships. He convincingly conveyed Seung-gyu's intricate inner life, where respect for Noja and a desire for revenge intersect, as well as the strange sense of déjà vu experienced when facing Mousetrap. His dry expression, sharp gaze and unreserved physical action combined to create gripping, nail-biting standout scenes.
Having fully embodied each character with his own unique color in every work and demonstrating a definite presence, Kim Sung-oh once again proved a broad acting spectrum through "Mousetrap".
