Former national team soccer player and commentator Park Ju-ho, Commissioner of the K Football Innovation Commission, said he will hold a youth soccer tournament.
On the 8th, a video titled "Hello, this is Park Ju-ho" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Park Ju-ho'. That day Park Ju-ho uploaded the video with a thumbnail showing a black screen with the words "Hello, this is Park Ju-ho," expressing a heavy heart, drawing attention.
He said, "I spent busy times preparing for and being part of the World Cup. My contract with my agency ended and I have now established a company that I am directly responsible for operating."
He continued, "Looking back, from my playing days until retirement, I think I lived performing roles given under someone else's decisions for the most part. Over the past few years, watching many things has changed my thinking," he said.
He went on, "I looked back on my playing days. I remember saying to players without much thought while watching referee decisions, 'This referee seems to be favoring our game,'" he confessed.
He apologized, saying, "I don't want to distance myself by saying 'I didn't know' or 'It wasn't me.' As an active player and someone who was part of the administrative organization, I feel a moral responsibility to fans who were disappointed. I'm sorry."
Park Ju-ho said, "I don't think all problems in the soccer world will suddenly change just because I step forward," but added, "Starting next year I will directly hold a sustainable youth soccer tournament in cooperation with local governments and corporations, not a one-off event," drawing attention.
Meanwhile, the Korea Football Association has been criticized over controversies including the hiring process of coach Jürgen Klinsmann, the controversy over the appointment of coach Hong Myung-bo, a parliamentary hearing, police forced investigations, and allegations of sexual favors for foreign referees.
