'Tazza 4' director Choi Guk-hee praised Swings's acting and said "he felt more comfortable with English lines than Korean ones."
On the 9th afternoon at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul, a press screening for the film Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub (Tazza 4) was held. Leading actors Byun Yo-Han, Roh Jae Won and director Choi Guk-hee attended the event.
The final installment of the Tazza series, Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub (directed by Choi Guk-hee, distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Sidus) was made based on the original comic by Heo Yeong. It is a crime film about Jang Tae-young (played by Byun Yo-Han), who thought he had the world through an online casino business, and his close friend with the same name Park Tae-young (played by Roh Jae Won), who stole everything from him; they meet again on a global gambling stage and engage in a decisive revenge match.
Tazza began with the 2006 release starring Cho Seung-woo and Kim Hye-soo, and continued with Tazza - The Hand of God (2014) and Tazza: One Eyed Jack (2019), receiving much love. The new Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub, coming out after seven years, has drawn more attention for its original worldbuilding and individuality. Whereas previous series focused on hwatu, Tazza 4 centers on cards.
Rapper Swings (Moon ji-hoon) takes on the role of Abraham, a ruthless outlaw who shows no fear, and challenged himself with his first acting role. Abraham, who carries out orders without judgment or feeling, is more terrifying because he does not think for himself and more cruel because he does not stop.
When Netflix's global hit Squid Game Season was released in December 2024, director Hwang Dong-hyuk said in an interview that he had considered Swings for the role of the rapper Thanos, drawing attention. At that time Swings had no acting experience, and ultimately Big Bang member T.O.P took the character. Coincidentally, around that time Swings began studying acting in earnest, was cast in Tazza, and interest is growing in what he will show in this film.
Director Choi Guk-hee said, "We held auditions for the role of Abraham but could not find a suitable actor. Although the part is not large in screen time, it is impactful, so we really held a lot of auditions. While we were struggling to find the right actor, Byun Yo-Han happened to show a video of Moon ji-hoon's improvisation, and I felt it was 'fresh.' We also needed a new face, so we contacted him. Moon ji-hoon showed so much passion, and that's why he joined us."
He added, "He did very well on set, and at first we used a method of mixing more English than the Korean lines he was reading," and praised, "He naturally felt more comfortable with English than Korean. He had prepared a lot and acted well. I think he will become an even better actor."
Meanwhile, Tazza 4 opens on the 23rd.
