Actor Kang Hoon conveyed his empathy with the character in My Bias, My Boss as a "successful fan."
On the afternoon of the 9th at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, a wrap-up interview was held with lead actor Kang Hoon of the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama My Bias, My Boss.
My Bias, My Boss, which ended on the 8th, is an office coming-of-age romance about new employee Nam Dareum who became an employee of his bias while trying to meet his bias. In the work, Kang Hoon played Kang Ha-gi, the perfect-in-brains-and-physicality CEO of the fashion platform Apello.
When asked about his first impressions of My Bias, My Boss, Kang Hoon said, "I thought it was something everyone has dreamed of. The idea of joining that person's company to meet your bias is a story everyone dreams of, and it can actually happen. I dreamed it too, and having achieved that dream made that element feel entertaining to me."
Kang Hoon is well known as a famous fan of Girls' Generation member Taeyeon. Asked, as someone with fan experience, how he received the scenes in which Nam Dareum (played by Kim Hye Jun) develops a love line with her bias E-Chan (played by Cha Woomin), he drew a line, saying, "Even when I liked someone as a child, I distinguished more between love and fandom."
He added, "When I watched this drama I thought, 'Am I the kind of person who syncs with Dareum?' I felt my fandom-self, not just the person Dareum is, synced well with the character. Watching the elevator scene where the bias is met, I thought, 'I would express it like this,' and I liked that actress Kim Hye Jun expressed it exactly that way. As someone who also achieved the dream of meeting a bias, I tried to give advice that wasn't really advice, but I didn't because I thought it might confuse things," he joked.
He said, "I understood Dareum a lot because one of the reasons I chose this profession was to meet that person. It wasn't so much that I wanted to be an actor as that I thought, 'If I want to meet that person, what should I do?' and I chose this path and came to love this profession. I eventually met them through variety shows, and those experiences touched on Dareum's current situation, which made it interesting."
When asked how far his fandom had gone, Kang Hoon candidly said, "I liked them intensely for a short period. I went to something like a fan concert during their first album era, and I went to see a performance at a high school festival. A boy from the provinces did his best." which drew laughter.
