Amid allegations of medical advertising surrounding group (i-dle) Miyeon's health checkup content, the production team explained directly. Some scenes received additional mosaic processing, and the release schedule for follow-up content originally set for the same day was delayed by one day.
Earlier, on the 1st, the YouTube channel 'Jeondosa' published a video titled '[SUB] i-dle's Miyeon First Health Checkup at 30, Did I... Say Something Ridiculous? | JEONDOSA EP.00'. The video showed Miyeon receiving her first health checkup since debut and undergoing a sedated gastroscopy. The controversy erupted after it became known that on the 7th a petition requesting confirmation of whether the content constituted medical advertising under the current Medical Service Act had been submitted to Yongsan District Public Health Center in Seoul through the national petition website.
The issues pointed out included scenes showing before-and-after administration of sedatives and the actual gastroscopy. The originally released version included captions reading 'administration of sedative for sleep' and showed the sedative being administered and the endoscopy being performed, and it was reported that information identifying a specific medical institution located in Yongsan District, Seoul, as well as medical staff and internal facilities, were exposed during this process.
Afterwards, some changes were made to parts of the video. Currently, some scenes have additional processing such as mosaics.
As the controversy continued, the 'Jeondosa' production team issued a statement through the official channel on the 8th. The production team said the EP.0 health checkup episode was not planned for the purpose of promoting a specific medical institution but was produced to document the cast member's actual health checkup process and experience as content. They emphasized that they did not receive advertising or sponsorship from the hospital. The production team said there was no request from the medical institution where filming took place for advertising, promotion, or production of the content and that they did not receive any monetary or economic support such as content production fees, advertising fees, or sponsorship fees.
They added that the production team directly paid for Miyeon's health checkup and medical expenses and drew a line that there was no intention to recommend or promote the use of any specific medical institution or medical staff.
However, they acknowledged that information identifying the medical institution had not been adequately processed. The production team said they confirmed that some scenes in the initially released version did not sufficiently obscure information that could identify the medical institution, and after reviewing following the teaser video release they completed additional blurring and remedial measures.
At the same time, the release schedule for follow-up content that had been planned for the same day was also changed. Through a separate notice, the production team said the upload schedule for 'Jeondosa' EP.1 Sana episode, which had been planned for today, was adjusted and is scheduled to be released at 8 p.m. on the 9th. However, the production team did not disclose the specific reason why the Sana episode's release schedule was changed, and because they did not explain it as a measure related to the medical advertising allegations, excessive speculation should be avoided.
Meanwhile, according to 'Jeondosa,' the teaser content featuring Miyeon surpassed 1 million views after its initial release. The production team said that in relation to this controversy they will exercise greater care not only in future content planning and production but also in pre-release review processes.
