'Tazza 4' Byun Yo-Han confessed that he referred to season 1, in which senior Cho Seung-woo appeared, while making this film.
On the afternoon of the 9th at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul, a press screening for the film Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub (Tazza 4) was held. Starring actors Byun Yo-Han, Roh Jae Won, director Choi Gook-hee and others attended.
The final installment of the Tazza series, Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub (directed by Choi Gook-hee, distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Sidus), was made based on the original manhwa by Heo Yeong of the same name. It is a crime story about Jang Tae-young (played by Byun Yo-Han), who thought he had the world after running an online casino business, and his close friend with the same name Park Tae-young (played by Roh Jae Won), who took everything from him, meeting again on a global gambling stage to settle a score.
Tazza began with the 2006 release starring Cho Seung-woo and Kim Hye-soo, and continued with Tazza: The Hand of God (2014) and Tazza: One Eyed Jack (2019), earning much love. The new Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub, coming out after seven years, has drawn more attention for its original world and individuality.
If the three films released over the past 20 years shared the same universe, the final installment, Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub, is a completely independent work. It vividly depicts a global gambling stage moving between Korea, Japan and Vietnam, and not only gambling but also the glamorous world of hold'em sports is expected.
Reflecting on wrapping up 20 years of the series, Byun Yo-Han said, "I feel relieved to be able to finish the Tazza series after 20 years," Roh Jae Won said, "It is not a given but a grateful thing to make a film that concludes Tazza's ending," and the director said, "As an ardent fan of the original manhwa, it was an honor to be able to make the final Song of Beelzebub," revealing their respective impressions.
In 'Tazza 4', the master-disciple setup makes the chemistry between Byun Yo-Han and Cho Woo-jin impressive. It brings to mind the image of Goni (Cho Seung-woo) and Pyeonggyeongjang (Baek Yoon-sik) from season 1 when he first learned hwatu.
Byun Yo-Han said, "While preparing for 'Tazza 4', I naturally referred to the differences with 1, 2 and 3, what new character I had to create, how I could make it more interesting, and those kinds of things," and added, "When filming with senior Cho Woo-jin, who appears as my master, just that alone felt like meeting a master we hadn't seen in 1, 2 and 3. He is a character who balances our film, so I want to take this opportunity to thank brother Cho Woo-jin."
Byun Yo-Han also confessed that he texted Cho Seung-woo before filming, adding, "As a junior to senior Cho Seung-woo, I have just one wish. I would like him to compliment me by saying 'you worked hard.'"
Meanwhile, 'Tazza 4' opens on the 23rd.<
