Singer and rookie actor Swings revealed the story of removing his tattoos to act and confessed the behind-the-scenes detail of borrowing 3 billion won from acquaintances.
Today (9th) Wednesday at 10:30 p.m., MBC 'Radio Star' (planned by Chey Yoon-chung / directed by Yoon Hye-jin, Hwang Yoon-sang, Byun Da-hee, Yang In-hye) will be presented as a special titled 'Feeling it rise~ Let's go! Artist,' featuring Kim Chang-ok, Jang Ki-ha, Swings and Jeon So-yeon.
Swings, who said it has been about 20 years since he started rapping and 18 years since he entered the music business, opens up about his time as a businessman who once grew his company to as many as 100 employees. He said that amid his success, an unexpected crisis arose when artists' contracts ended and COVID-19 overlapped.
Swings' choice to rebuild the company was bold. He said he received an advance of as much as 12 billion won from a music company, surprising everyone. He recounts the situation that led him to choose the large advance and reveals the harsh repayment terms that began the month after he received the money, sharing the trials and tribulations he experienced as a businessman.
He added surprise by saying he borrowed up to about 3 billion won from acquaintances to keep promises to artists who left the company. Having endured difficult times, Swings described the current situation as "I can see the light at the end of the tunnel," suggesting he has not yet paid off all his debts. He candidly shares what he learned through the crisis.
Swings also revealed his recent move to challenge himself as a rookie actor beyond about 20 years of being a singer. He said that about half a year after he formally began acting, he got the opportunity to appear in the film Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub, and he joked it felt like he had won the lottery at how quickly the chance came.
A casting behind-the-scenes story in which actor Byun Yo-Han unexpectedly contacted him one day drew attention. He said that despite preparing for a colonoscopy at the time, Swings went straight to the meeting place so as not to miss the opportunity that came to him as an actor after the film team suddenly suggested a meeting. Everyone in the studio was impressed by Swings' extraordinary passion for acting.
During the recording that day, there was even a surprise phone connection with Byun Yo-Han. Byun Yo-Han focused the studio's attention by talking about Swings' charm he experienced firsthand and about "actor Swings." Curiosity grew about how Byun Yo-Han saw Swings as an actor.
The newly experienced film set culture was also a fresh shock for Swings. He also revealed the story of causing unexpected "disappointment" to actor Sungjun when he challenged historical drama acting. Not being familiar with the distinctive speech of historical dramas, Swings developed his own free way of portraying the character, raising curiosity about why Sungjun confessed his "disappointment" toward him.
He also revealed the second act of his life: trying new changes such as removing tattoos for acting and expanding his domain by even establishing a film production company.
Meanwhile, the film Tazza's final series in which Swings made his first appearance as an actor, Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub, is a crime film in which Jang Tae-young (Byun Yo-Han), who thought he had the world with his online casino business, and his longtime friend with the same name Park Tae-young (Roh Jae Won), who took everything from him, meet again on a global gambling stage to settle the score.
In the film, Swings challenged his first acting role as the ruthless outlaw Abraham, who is fearless to the point of recklessness. Abraham, who carries out only orders without judgment or emotion, is more terrifying because he does not think for himself and more cruel because he does not stop.<
