A Trap Called Desire: a decisive clue has emerged that shakes Jang Seo-hee's hidden past.
On Aug. 7, episode 21 of the KBS 2TV daily drama A Trap Called Desire (directed by Lee Dae-kyung and Jung Kwang-soo, written by Koo Ji-won) depicted Go Eun-seol (Jeon Hye-won) being cleared of murder charges while suspecting a mastermind behind the case and pursuing the truth. the episode recorded an 8.1% viewership rating (Nielsen Korea, nationwide households) and captivated viewers with its sweeping developments.
Previously, to hide her identity, Joo Mi-ran (Jang Seo-hee) who removed Director General Na (played by Im Jae-geun) showed meticulousness by even falsifying his suicide note to frame Go Eun-seol for murder. the note contained a statement that Director General Na was the murderer of Park Hee-jung (Suh You-jung), and through this, Go Eun-seol narrowly cleared her name.
But Go Eun-seol's heart was not at ease. unaware of the real culprit who had framed her for murder, when she faced the death of Director General Na, who had been a prime suspect in her mother's killing, Go Eun-seol finally shed the tears she had been holding back.
Although Director General Na's confession seemed to bring the case to a close, Go Eun-seol instead began to harbor new doubts. she discovered that there was no clear connection between Director General Na and Park Hee-jung. accordingly, Go Eun-seol suspected the possibility of another true culprit behind the case and continued her pursuit of the truth.
Go Eun-seol's counterattack at the company continued. after being told by Kang Hae-ra (Joo Saebyeok) to leave the company now that she had been cleared, Go Eun-seol confidently responded, "Now that I can clear my name, I plan to finally show my true ability. so please look forward to it, head of team," refusing to step back.
Meanwhile, Joo Mi-ran raised the tension by meeting Go Eun-seol alone. Joo Mi-ran appeared calm as if nothing had happened, offering condolence money to the cleared Go Eun-seol, but Go Eun-seol refused it. she said, "There is still a retrial left and we must catch Lee Jeong-tae," making clear that the case was not over. after Go Eun-seol left, the smile disappeared from Joo Mi-ran's face, and the tense standoff between the two continued.
The family's longing for Park Hee-jung also evoked sorrow. near the end of the broadcast, Gogi-han (Choi Jae-won) and Wang Geum-ja (Seo Kwon-soon) were examining Park Hee-jung's belongings when they found a maternity notebook with a date matching Go Eun-seol's birthday. in particular, the situation quickly shifted when the name "Joo Ae-sook" was found in the notebook.
Based on the notes left in the notebook, the two began to speculate about Go Eun-seol's birth mother, and Joo Mi-ran likewise seemed tormented by nightmares as memories of past childbirth surfaced. questions are growing about what connection the name "Joo Ae-sook" might have to Joo Mi-ran's past and what hidden truth lies behind Go Eun-seol's birth.
