A Korea-Japan joint production project drama 'Personal Taxi' heated up the 22nd Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF) and completed a successful first voyage.
"Personal Taxi," scheduled to release all eight episodes on Oct. 1 on Netflix and Japan's Fuji TV OTT platform FOD, was selected as the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival's first invited drama series and was active across the festival period.
At the opening ceremony red carpet, Joo Jong Hyuk, Lim Se-mi and Kwak Yoon-gi appeared to open the glamorous curtain. In the early hours of the following day, Lim Se-mi and Kwak Yoon-gi, the leads of episode 2 "Running," held a "sunrise run" event in which they ran 5 km with 10 preselected citizens, sharing a meaningful time interacting with the public.
At the post-screening audience talk (GV), lead actor Cha Taehyun dramatically adjusted his shooting schedule and made a surprise appearance, raising the on-site excitement to its peak. At the GV, Cha Taehyun, along with Lim Ha Ryong, Lim Se-mi and Kwak Yoon-gi, attended and interacted with the audience.
Cha Taehyun said, "As the festival's first invited drama, I am excited and deeply moved to share this first moment with the audience," adding, "As a work that offers warmth and delightful laughter, I hope it brings comfort and joy to many people."
Lim Ha Ryong, who spent his school days in Jecheon, said, "Watching the work with the audience in Jecheon, which feels like my hometown, is deeply moving," and running enthusiast Lim Se-mi also expressed her affection for the filming location. Kwak Yoon-gi, a former short-track national team member who took on an acting challenge, said, "I am honored that my first drama debut work is with us on the red carpet and at the GV," receiving the audience's support.
From citizen participation events to the high-energy GV, "Personal Taxi," which showcased a new charm of K-music drama, will meet viewers around the world at 8 p.m. on Oct. 1 via Netflix and Japan's FOD.
