Singer-songwriter Jang Ki-ha takes over Radio Star with the unique working method of his first solo full-length album "Sansanjogak" and candid, refreshingly frank banter never heard before.
The MBC program Radio Star, airing on the 9th at 10:30 p.m., is organized as a special "Feeling it rising—let's go! artists" episode featuring Kim Chang-ok, Jang Ki-ha, Swings and Jeon So-yeon.
At a recent recording, Jang Ki-ha introduced the title track "You or me" from his first full-length album since going solo, capturing attention. He said he usually draws inspiration from the intonation in conversations, and at the recording he immediately performed a distinctive unaccompanied live that turned the studio into a sea of admiration and laughter.
In particular, the album's working method is nothing short of "bizarre." Jang Ki-ha completed scenarios with directors based on poems he wrote, acted himself and first produced a 30-minute silent film. He said he then chose a unique method of matching music to the scenes and movements without modifying a single frame of the completed footage. It is said that his experience as music director on the films "Smuggling" and "I, The Executioner" was a decisive factor.
Jang Ki-ha said, "I want people to talk a lot behind my music," and revealed a unique music philosophy that even enjoys polarizing reactions. He said that when sharp reactions came to one of his songs in the past, he felt satisfaction thinking he had created something on the edge of music. He added that fans, when malicious comments appear, answer with his song "That's your thought," which drew laughter.
A hidden connection with actor Kim Yun-seok is also revealed in full. Jang Ki-ha, who once declined an offer to appear in the film "Virus," changed his mind after a single phone call in which Kim Yun-seok personally recommended him. Kim Yun-seok visited the set even on days without shooting and took on the role of mentor. It is expected that a new, original song was born inspired by the direction "stay still," which Jang Ki-ha repeatedly heard from Kim Yun-seok during acting, and that he repeated the phrase for six minutes.
Also to be revealed are rapper Swings's high praise calling him "the originator and game changer of rap without rhyme in today's hip-hop scene," and Jang Ki-ha's distinctive "gourmet world on the dining table," even pondering why not to season a fried egg.
Meanwhile, Jang Ki-ha is currently dating actor Yoon Ga-i.
