"Matchmaking variety show hitmaker" PD Nam Gyu-hong this time puts "marriage" rather than "dating" at the forefront.
PD Nam Gyu-hong's new show on MBC Every1·KBS Joy, "Contract marriage," has confirmed its first broadcast on the 28th at 10:30 p.m.
"Contract marriage" is a marriage simulation observational reality show in which men and women who desperately want to marry experience a marital relationship in advance through a contract and, in the process, verify the meaning of marriage and realistic partnership.
While existing dating reality shows focused on meetings, excitement and choices between men and women to ultimately decide final couples, "Contract marriage" goes one step further. Based on questions such as "why do I marry" and "with whom and how should I live," it observes whether people can truly continue as a married couple by experiencing actual married life together.
Participants live a married life in advance within a relationship formed by a contract. They experience lifestyle habits, values and conflict situations that were not easily revealed during the dating process and concretely confirm the kind of spouse and married life they want. Unpredictable situations created by different people and relationships are expected to deliver a different kind of tension and fun compared with existing matchmaking variety shows.
Above all, "Contract marriage" draws attention because it is the first time PD Nam Gyu-hong, who has observed changes in meetings, choices and relationships between men and women for more than 15 years from "The Match" to "I Am SOLO," has raised "marriage" itself as the theme.
PD Nam Gyu-hong has established himself as a "dating show powerhouse" by watching the birth processes of real couples and spouses through "The Match" and "I Am SOLO." Having led to the formation of more than 80 couples through the two programs and even built a unique character known as the "chief of Love Village," expectations are rising about how his long-accumulated know-how about relationships between men and women will unfold in "Contract marriage."
The meeting of MBC Every1 and KBS Joy also draws attention. MBC Every1, which captured raw entertainment through shows such as "Welcome, First Time in Korea?" and KBS Joy, which has dealt with various conflicts and concerns that occur in real dating through "Love's Interference," have joined hands with PD Nam Gyu-hong.
Interest is focused on what new resolution of reality the PD Nam Gyu-hong, who has long observed unscripted meetings and choices between men and women, and the two channels that have portrayed realistic relationships will complete together.
Attention is focused on whether "Contract marriage," which directly experiences "marriage" rather than dating and examines the realities of relationships, can create a differentiated kind of fun from existing matchmaking variety shows.
