Trot singer Taejin-ah's son and singer-actor Iru, who had returned after four years, delivered sad news.
On the 6th, Iru posted on his social media, "I have a torn meniscus but I can't be stopped."
Along with this, Iru verified a record showing he ran more than 5 km in about 40 minutes with a video of him running.
On the 7th, he celebrated his 21st debut anniversary, saying "Sept. 7, 2026. Already 21 years since debut. Time goes by so fast. The older I get, the more remorseful I feel."
He added, "I am simply grateful to the many people who have supported and encouraged me to the end. I will work harder from now on to repay that love. Thank you," expressing his gratitude to fans.
On Dec. 19, 2022, at about 11 p.m., Iru was booked by police on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing into a guardrail on the Gangbyeonbuk-ro in Seoul. At the time, Iru's blood alcohol level was at the license suspension threshold, and he bowed his head, saying, "There is no excuse. I sincerely apologize." He also left the KBS2 daily drama "The Woman of Secrets" and took a period of reflection.
However, it was later revealed that Iru had been booked on the same charge as recently as Sept. 2022, just three months earlier, shocking the public. Iru testified that a passenger was driving, but police judged this to be false and sent the passenger to the prosecution on charges of swapping places to pose as the driver. The court sentenced Iru to six months in prison with a fine of 100,000 won and a one-year suspended sentence, and the prosecution appealed citing the light sentence, but the appeal was dismissed.
After sharing his daily life only through social media, Iru appeared before the public again in July on TV CHOSUN's The Lovers of Joseon, about four years after the controversy.
On stage, Iru said, "I never imagined my mother would develop dementia. At some point I looked at my father and he had aged a lot. Seeing him stagger, I was terrified that he might get hurt." He added, "If my mother happens to see this broadcast, I want to say I'm sorry and I love you. I'm sorry I was born your son. I caused you so much worry. If there is a next life, I want to be born as my mother's son again. See you again, Mom. I love you," and he shed tears.
Since then, Iru has been communicating with fans through social media.
