Actor Cho Byeong-kyu revealed that he failed to apply for KATUSA and disclosed his plans to enlist.
On the 7th, the YouTube channel 1MA2C released a video titled '"I will be going to the military soon'..Cho Byeong-kyu, whom we met in Daehangno, untold stories."
Currently meeting audiences with the play "Myeonhoe," Cho Byeong-kyu candidly shared his thoughts on his popularity. He said that while he still feels pleased when fans recognize him, "right now it is dissipating and (the popularity) is moderate," and spoke matter-of-factly.
He also spoke about leaving the agency he had been with for 13 years since his debut. Cho Byeong-kyu called it a "beautiful parting" and expressed gratitude to the company that had been with him from successful moments to difficult times. He added, "I take this opportunity to thank them. I am still in good contact," referring to the officials who had worked with him for a long time.
He was cautious about finding a new agency. He said starting with a new company is not easy and that he hesitated, explaining that above all he is considering various situations because he will have to do military service in the future.
He also revealed specific enlistment plans. Cho Byeong-kyu said he plans to finish his actor activities this year after the currently running play "Myeonhoe" and the musical "Opera," and then prepare for enlistment.
He especially admitted for the first time that he had tried for KATUSA in the past. Cho Byeong-kyu said that about two years ago he met the English test criteria and applied for KATUSA but was eliminated in the lottery. With his KATUSA enlistment falling through, he said he is "thinking about the army" for future service.
Accordingly, Cho Byeong-kyu is expected to begin full preparations for enlistment after finishing his scheduled works.
