Japanese actor Sakaguchi Kentaro announced surprise marriage news.
On the 6th, Sakaguchi Kentaro directly revealed on his paid fan club site that he married a non-celebrity woman he had been dating. His agency also confirmed the marriage to local media.
Sakaguchi Kentaro said, "Although it is a personal matter, I have married the non-celebrity woman I had been dating." He added, "As an actor I want to continue to strive even more going forward," saying he intends to remain active after marriage.
He did not disclose any information about his spouse other than that she is a non-celebrity woman. He also did not reveal specific personal details such as her name, age, or the length of their relationship.
The announcement is drawing attention in particular because it comes after last year's privacy controversy. Earlier last year Japanese weekly Shūkan Bunshun reported that Sakaguchi Kentaro was living with stylist A, who is three years older, in a luxury mansion in Tokyo. The report also raised the so-called "two-timing" allegation by claiming he met actress Nagano Mei while dating A, sparking a backlash.
Afterward, Sakaguchi Kentaro made his first public appearance since the controversy when he won the Asia Star award at the Seoul Drama Awards 2025. At the time he said, "I was worried about how it would be received," which some interpreted as an indirect acknowledgment of his privacy controversy.
About a year later, Sakaguchi Kentaro's direct announcement of his marriage has once again drawn attention.
