'Love On The Menu' Ha Seok-jin exploded with emotions he had suppressed for eight years toward Ahn Heeyeon after learning the secret of Yoon Habin's birth.
On the 13th episode of KBS 2TV weekend drama Love On The Menu (directed by Hong Seok-gu, written by Lee Kyung-hee), which aired on the 5th, Kim Moo-jin (played by Ha Seok-jin) learns that Han Gyu-rim (played by Ahn Heeyeon) is the biological daughter of Go Yoon-hee (played by Yoon Yoo-seon), and then confronts the shocking truth that she is not Han-gyeol's biological mother.
That day Kim Moo-jin reluctantly made the kimchi fried rice that Han Gyu-rim suddenly ordered. Han Gyu-rim, tasting the kimchi fried rice he made, swallowed back tears as memories of eight years ago with Kim Moo-jin surged up. Looking at the plate Han Gyu-rim had cleaned, Kim Moo-jin muttered quietly to himself, "Don't ever come again." Han Gyu-rim could not hide her reddened eyes at his resolute stance after he ultimately did not show his face, evoking pity.
After long deliberation, Go Yoon-hee confessed to her husband Jang Hoon-tae (played by Kwon Hae-hyo) that Han Gyu-rim, Kim Moo-jin's former lover, was her biological daughter. Jang Seo-hyun (played by Lee Joo-yeon) wondered why Go Yoon-hee strongly opposed her and Kim Moo-jin meeting, and even suspected, "Is Kim Moo-jin your father's son?" To turn her daughter's heart away from Kim Moo-jin, Jang Hoon-tae lied that it was so. His precarious choice to protect both Go Yoon-hee and Jang Seo-hyun cast another tension over the household.
Jang Hoon-tae met Kim Moo-jin in person and asked about his relationship with Han Gyu-rim. Noting Kim Moo-jin's embarrassed expression and sensing something, Jang Hoon-tae revealed that Han Gyu-rim and Go Yoon-hee were mother and daughter. He then explained why Go Yoon-hee could not help opposing the meeting between Kim Moo-jin and Jang Seo-hyun. Confronted with an unexpected truth, Kim Moo-jin was engulfed in shock and confusion.
Meanwhile, after receiving a call from homeroom teacher Kwon Hee-na (played by Jung Bo-min) asking whether Han-gyeol had returned home, Han Gyu-rim sensed a troubling atmosphere. Kwon Hee-na informed her that a mother with blood type O cannot have a son with blood type AB, indicating that Han-gyeol had already suspected a secret surrounding his birth. Suddenly facing reality, Han Gyu-rim was overcome with fear. Thinking about the shock her unreachable son must have endured, her tears added to the sense of sorrow.
To resolve his doubts, Han-gyeol went to see Kim Moo-jin. Seeing Han-gyeol talk about his blood type and Han Gyu-rim's blood type, Kim Moo-jin also felt something was strange. Confirming Kim Moo-jin's reaction, Han-gyeol was convinced his suspicion was correct, rejected Kim Moo-jin's suggestion to talk directly with his mother, and broke down in tears.
Later, Kim Moo-jin answered a call from Han Gyu-rim that had come to Han-gyeol. He told Han Gyu-rim that Han-gyeol currently did not want to meet, deepening the conflict between the two.
At the end of the broadcast, Kim Moo-jin stayed by the sleeping Han-gyeol on a dark riverbank. Han-gyeol, asking who his birth parents were, finally broke down and Kim Moo-jin watched the child silently.
After contacting Kim Moo-jin, Han Gyu-rim came to pick up the child herself even though she heard that Han-gyeol wanted to be with him. Just as she was about to leave with Han-gyeol, Kim Moo-jin finally released the emotions he had been holding back.
"What kind of life did you live abandoning me for eight years?" At Kim Moo-jin's cry mixing resentment and longing he had harbored toward Han Gyu-rim for eight years, Han Gyu-rim's gaze wavered greatly.
