Rapper MC MONG (real name Shin Dong-hyun) personally apologized to actor Kim Min-jong, who sued him for defamation.
On the 5th, MC MONG bowed his head on a live broadcast, saying, "It was my fault to have mentioned Kim Min-jong," admitting that he had raised past suspicions about Kim Min-jong's involvement in gambling.
He especially said, "We met in person and talked, and cleared up the misunderstandings well. Min-jong hyung also gave me a warm hug." He added, "From now on, I will accept whatever articles come out about me."
Earlier, in May MC MONG named Kim Min-jong and raised allegations of involvement in illegal gambling. At that time Kim Min-jong protested his innocence, calling it "a clear falsehood," and immediately announced legal action.
Kim Min-jong's side filed a complaint on the 2nd at Jongno Police Station in Seoul against MC MONG for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation), saying that not only had the reputation and trust he built over about 38 years since his debut been seriously damaged, but concrete negotiations for a Hollywood next project and talks for two advertising contracts that were being discussed at the time were halted, causing actual damage.
Kim Min-jong's side said, "We cannot tolerate the damage caused by content that is clearly different from the facts any longer. We will sincerely cooperate with the investigation and proceed with legal measures sequentially, including a civil claim for damages," adding, "If there is further distribution, we will respond strongly without any compromise, including filing for provisional injunctions."
However, despite Kim Min-jong's defamation complaint, MC MONG recently said on a live broadcast, "Do I get sued once or twice? It's nothing," and "I was sued twice and both resulted in no charges."
But two days later, with MC MONG changing his attitude and personally conveying his apology and admitting his fault, attention is focused on whether Kim Min-jong's side will maintain the complaint against MC MONG.
