Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon announced that his adopted daughter is getting married.
On the 5th, MBN's Dongchimi aired, where Hong Seok-cheon recounted the process of adopting his sister's two children.
Hong Seok-cheon said, "Raising kids costs an enormous amount of money. Not just one but two. The eldest turned 30. I was taken aback that my daughter is getting married. We held a formal meeting between the families."
He added, "When I looked, the son-in-law is not my type but he treated the elders well. So I told them to get married. My eye for men is accurate," he said, drawing laughter.
About why he adopted his niece and nephew, he said, "My sister got divorced. There were two nieces/nephews. They were going to school and interacting with friends and seemed to need a guardian. I learned it was legally possible to take the children in. So I decided to do it. I had no thoughts of marriage and it wouldn't be legally recognized, so I thought I should be a good father to the children," he said.
He added, "The biological father exists but signed a document renouncing parental rights. My sister also struggled with it a lot. 'What about your life?' she asked; she wanted the children to have someone reliable," he said, creating a heartwarming moment.
