Actor Jo In-young left a strong impression with densely layered acting that moved between anxiety, confusion and fear in Flex x Cop 2.
Jo In-young portrayed Park Da-hye, a student in the Korean dance department at Juyun Arts High School, in episodes 9 and 10 of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Flex x Cop 2 (written by Kim Ba-da, directed by Kim Jae-hong), broadcast on the 4th and 5th, depicting the complex psychology of a character caught up in an incident among friends.
Park Da-hye was deeply shocked when she directly witnessed the cold corpse of her friend Moon Se-yeon. Afterward, when she met the violent crimes unit 1 that visited the school to investigate the case, she maintained an anxious expression and a frightened appearance, raising questions about what relationship she had to the incident.
Especially when Jin I-su (Ahn Bo-hyun) and Joo Hye-ra (Jung Eun-Chae) showed the curse letter found on Moon Se-yeon's desk, Park Da-hye could not hide her surprise. Even when asked who had sent the letter, she could not speak easily, but after Jin I-su's persuasion she revealed the accident that had occurred a week earlier because of Moon Se-yeon.
In the process, Jo In-young sensitively expressed Park Da-hye's wavering emotions. From the moments she hesitated to speak out of fear of the incident to the moment she finally decided to reveal the truth, subtle changes in expression and eyes naturally conveyed the character's psychological shifts.
In moments of crisis she showed another face. When Park Da-hye was suddenly attacked by Ga-eun, she was seized by such extreme fear that her body froze without time to evade, and she barely escaped the danger with the help of the police. After the Juyun Arts High School incident was resolved, she watched Moon Se-yeon's grandmother smoothing the place where her granddaughter had passed and shared in the grief. Jo In-young amplified the scene's resonance by finely portraying emotions that changed with the situation, from extreme terror to heavy sorrow.
Above all, Jo In-young heightened the drama's tension by portraying the complex inner life of a character involved in the case without exaggeration. Even in a state shaken by anxiety, she convincingly expressed Park Da-hye's courage in revealing the clues she knew, breathing life into the character.
In this way, Jo In-young revealed a strong presence despite a brief appearance through Flex x Cop 2. Having delicately handled a character's emotional line that traversed anxiety, fear, guilt and courage, viewers are eager to see what new face Jo In-young will show in future works.
