Dongchimi host Hong Seok-cheon spoke about why he adopted his sister's children, his nieces and nephews.
On the 5th episode of MBN Dongchimi (hereinafter "Dongchimi"), which aired on the 5th, Hong Seok-cheon, Baek Il-seop and Nam Bo-ra appeared. Their commonality was that they all have tender relationships with their families.
Hong Seok-cheon adopted his sister's children. After the divorce, his sister told him to raise the children so she could make a fresh start. But the nieces and nephews were young, and he had to persuade them at their level. Hong Seok-cheon said, "An uncle can suddenly die at any time. But you know the uncle has some assets, right? That's why we're doing this. Now, I'll give you 10 minutes, go talk to mom and come back," which drew laughter.
He later said he did not participate in the children's school events. He said he was careful in raising them because he worried that, having come out about his sexual identity, the children might attract attention at school.
