He explained his personality and behavior, saying, "I still don't really know how to love and live affectionately with people. My heart isn't cold, but my actions are somewhat cold. I grew up that way."
Song Chang-sik confessed that he dropped out of high school, saying, "At first I went to a arts high school. I just couldn't do it. When I first went to arts high school, in my heart I wondered, 'Is there anyone better than me at music?' I was a frog in a well. There was no one worse than me. The arts high school was full of rich kids. I lost confidence as soon as I went in." He added, "That may be why I learned to have a smiling face. If I didn't have a smiling face, I couldn't endure it," drawing pity.
He continued, "Because my home was so poor, I couldn't do my homework. I couldn't study. At Ssesi-bong they said if you sing you get food, so I did it. That was my chance to have a meal."
Song Chang-sik confessed that after dropping out of high school he was homeless for two years. He confessed, "If you go under the stairs it's cold, so you climb the stairs all the way up. There was a small space at the top of the stairs. I slept in the smallest position, crouched. In winter, if you breathe deeply it's cold. You have to breathe very small. Because of the cold I was half asleep and half awake."
