Former baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun revealed his luxury single house with a Han River Police view.
On the 4th, a video titled "I tried the house reveal that everyone else does" was uploaded to the "Illuhwang" channel.
That day, Hwang Jae-gyun invited the production team to his Han River Police APT. and introduced various interior spots. At the entrance, a baseball bat that caught the eye was described by Hwang Jae-gyun as "the bat I made to commemorate my retirement ceremony, one of only 20 in the world."
Moving to a closet filled with large figures, Hwang Jae-gyun said, "This is just where I use as storage," and "This is where I always shoot my OOTD. I turned on the lights but it was useless so now I don't turn them on," he said. In addition, display cases showcased a world championship gold medal and Korean Series championship rings, and on top of them sat boxes of high-end designer bags, drawing attention.
In addition, a motorcycle was displayed in one corner of the living room. Hwang Jae-gyun said, "It's a Justin Bieber limited edition. I bought this just for display. It can be ridden, but I deliberately didn't install the engine. There is even a Justin Bieber limited edition helmet. I think it was 7,000,000 won at the time," he said.
The master bedroom was full of display shoes. Hwang Jae-gyun said, "The two most expensive ones here are these. Their prices went up a lot, but I wore them a lot so I can't sell them. I bought them in the U.S. I bought them when they were $3,500 (4.6 million won), and I sat there and thought for two hours. Should I buy them or not. But I bought them and seeing that the new ones were worth over 10 million won, I cursed my past self again at that time. 'Who are you to be wearing that? Keep it as a new one,'" he confessed frankly, drawing laughter.
A safe and an ice refrigerator in the bedroom drew attention. Hwang Jae-gyun said, "The safe contains contracts and money," and "I really bought the ice refrigerator. Why I bought it is for ice baths (cryotherapy). I was going to put ice in the bathtub and do it every day. I did that every day, so I bought it. I filled it with ice and did it daily. But the electric bill came out to 1.5 million won. Running this continuously," he revealed, surprising viewers.
The production team asked, "Don't you have that kind of wealth?", but Hwang Jae-gyun replied, "No. Still, an electric bill of 1.5 million won is a bit much, so I stopped doing this and unplugged it. Then the electric bill dropped sharply. From then on it just became a decoration. There's nothing inside. There used to be ice here. Now I'm using it as a table," he said.
Later the production team asked, "Tell us what the most expensive thing in the house is," and Hwang Jae-gyun said, "The expensive thing is this console. This is the most expensive. It's similar to a Fornasetti piece; I think it's 11,000,000 won? It's just a decoration and you can put things inside," he said, shocking viewers.
But the inside of the console was actually filled with rolls of toilet paper. He was using an 11,000,000 won console as a toilet paper storage box. The production team were astonished, asking, "You put toilet paper in the most expensive thing?" and "Why put toilet paper in something that costs 11 million won?", and Hwang Jae-gyun casually replied, "It's lucky if you can put anything in it."
Meanwhile, Hwang Jae-gyun joined the KBO League in 2006 and worked as a professional baseball player. In 2017 he signed with the San Francisco Giants and played in the major leagues, but after just one year in 2018 he signed with kt wiz and returned to the KBO League. After announcing his retirement last year, he signed an exclusive contract with SM C&C in February this year, signaling his full-scale move into broadcasting, and he is currently working as a baseball commentator for TVING. In particular, Hwang Jae-gyun married Tiara Ji-yeon in 2022 but divorced in 2024, and he recently revealed his single life through MBC's "Omniscient Interfering View".
