Comedian Park So-young revealed the scene of her daughter's birth.
On the 5th, a video titled "birth D-DAY | the day to finally meet Mary! induced labor birth vlog" was uploaded to the "Jubu Dwaessoyoung" channel.
That day Park So-young headed to the hospital with her husband Moon Kyung-chan for induced labor. She said, "From the day the induced labor was scheduled, I watched so many induced labor birth videos for three weeks that at first I was nervous, but because I watched so many I thought, 'I don't know either, just let it happen,' and let go of that mindset, so I wasn't worried. I got scared too early from watching too much, so I actually slept well."
In response, Moon Kyung-chan said, "When I watch those videos, other babies are so pretty that I wondered how pretty Mary would be," and Park So-young declared, "Whether we will meet Mary today by induced labor or tomorrow. fighting!"
After completing the admission procedures, Park So-young said, "They checked my cervix just now and it was only 1 cm dilated. They said that if it opens 2 cm or 3 cm today, we can consider it a lot opened. I'm a first-time mother," and a little later she admitted, "I think contractions are starting to come slowly. They're slowly increasing." She expressed concern, saying, "They checked the cervix twice and left. It's now 11:50 a.m. I've looked it up all the time, and there were despair and hope versions of induced labor, and I think I'm the despair version."
As time passed the contractions got worse, and Park So-young said, "I can endure it. Having contractions is better than not having them right now. It's okay. People say it feels like a tire ran over you. I think I know what that feels like, but it's not a truck yet; it felt like a bicycle ran over me. It's okay. I can bear it. It's not yet to the point of needing painkillers. If only the cervix would open."
But after 6 p.m. Park So-young admitted she "couldn't endure the extreme pain and received painkillers." She said, "It's been almost four hours of contractions. But since it hadn't opened to 3 cm, I couldn't get an epidural and tried to endure painkillers for one more hour, but I thought I'd faint if I kept going. They said the painkiller lasts about two hours. I thought I could endure it all," she said. After sleeping for about two hours following that, Park So-young regretted, "If I hadn't taken the painkiller, it would have been a big problem. I endured it for nothing. I should have taken it earlier. I thought enduring might be better."
The induced labor continued into the next day. The next morning the contractions became even more severe, and Park So-young said, "It really hurt earlier. It's been about 15 minutes since they inserted the epidural? The area around the groin that wasn't painful started to hurt. They went to see what else they could do," adding, "I really understand why people say a truck ran over them. Yesterday it was a bicycle, but today it's really a truck."
After ups and downs, Park So-young gave birth to her first daughter at 1:07 p.m. on the second day of hospitalization. Right after the birth she asked Moon Kyung-chan, who was taking photos of the immediate aftermath, "Is that an app?" which drew laughter. Moon Kyung-chan showed his doting-father side, saying, "I have to switch to a phone with bigger storage," and Park So-young said, "No wonder everyone gets the phone with the largest storage."
Soon after, Moon Kyung-chan held their newborn daughter, and Park So-young was surprised, saying, "She looks exactly like Kyung-chan." She added, "I practiced and she wouldn't stay well, but when she was held by her dad she didn't cry." Moon Kyung-chan showed off, saying, "See? Does Mary like dad? Dad likes Mary," and the medical staff joked, "He already seems like a dad who has raised a child for months." Park So-young marveled, "I was very worried but he's doing well," and Moon Kyung-chan expressed affection, saying, "She clings to me so well that I'm comfortable too."
Meanwhile, Park So-young married former baseball player Moon Kyung-chan in 2024 and gave birth to her first daughter on the 28th of last month.
