A former member of Super Junior, Kangin, broke a long hiatus and appeared at an official domestic event. After releasing a new song and holding overseas fan meetings, attention is focused on whether his appearance in Korea will signal a full return to activities.
On the 4th, Kangin attended the '2027 S/S Seoul Fashion Week (SFW)' Greedilous (GREEDILOUS) show held at Lotte World Tower World Park in Songpa-gu, Seoul, and before the show he appeared at the photowall event starting at 6:30 p.m.
In particular, the event drew attention because it was Kangin's first official domestic appearance since he left Super Junior in 2019.
Kangin debuted as a member of Super Junior in 2005 and was active, but he was involved in several controversies. In 2009 he was implicated in an assault case and later that year caused a hit-and-run while driving under the influence, and in 2016 he caused further controversy with another drunk driving incident, leading him to suspend activities. Ultimately, Kangin voluntarily left Super Junior in 2019.
After distancing himself from activities in Korea's entertainment world for a while, Kangin has recently shown movement again. In April he released a new digital single, "LOVE IS PAIN," and returned to singing. The song is a lyrical ballad for which Kangin participated in both lyrics and composition, and its lyrics express gratitude toward the precious people who stayed by his side.
He also continued meeting overseas fans. Kangin held a fan meeting tour "STUNNING TOGETHER" starting in Manila and Ho Chi Minh and including Mexico City, Rima, Santiago, Hong Kong, and Taipei, and in May he also met local fans in Tokyo, Japan.
Having slowly expanded his range of activities through music releases and overseas fan meetings, Kangin this time appeared at an official domestic event. Given his long hiatus after various controversies, attention is focused on whether his attendance at the fashion week will lead to expanded activities in Korea going forward.
