Former girl group AOA member and actress Kwon Min-ah has launched an aggressive exposé, including legal action, alleging that her older sister embezzled several hundred million won and committed abuses against their mother.
On the 4th, Kwon Min-ah posted a long message on her social media saying, "What is family? For me, only my mother ultimately remained as family," which caused a ripple.
Kwon Min-ah opened up by mentioning her deceased father and her older sister, saying, "They did too many cruel things to call them family." She alleged that her older sister embezzled and defrauded a total amount exceeding 700 to 800 million won, combining money belonging to her, their mother, and an acquaintance of their mother.
Kwon Min-ah said, "I knew early on that my sister had embezzled, and during hard times it would have been enough for her to say a sincere 'I'm sorry' or to admit it if she couldn't repay it," adding, "But about two years ago I realized the seriousness when I found that my mother's assets, my bank account, and the money I had given to my mother had all disappeared."
She claimed, "Even though I paid for my mother's breast cancer treatment and the cosmetic surgery after the incision out of my own pocket, my sister said to our mother, 'Mom should have gotten breast cancer,' and 'Let's send her to a nursing home,' and she even told my mother's boyfriend false things about her," shocking readers. She also added that her sister made her sign for a car purchase that was another fraud worth more than 100 million won.
She also mentioned wounds from her childhood. Kwon Min-ah recalled the cruel memories, saying, "My sister went to a humanities high school and Korea University, but I took a different path, working part-time in middle school. My father didn't pay child support, so I took on the role of breadwinner and worked, and she was ashamed of me and told me, 'Don't brag that I'm your younger sibling.'"
Kwon Min-ah demanded one last apology and acknowledgment from her sister. She warned of a tough legal response, saying, "Even now, admit you are sorry and let's resolve this. But if there is absolutely no intention to do that, I will legally reveal the truth so she can never raise her head again for actual fraud, forgery of private documents, embezzlement, and blackmail."
Meanwhile, Kwon Min-ah debuted in 2012 as a member of the group AOA and left the team in 2019, later claiming she was bullied by members, which drew sympathy. Since then, she became embroiled in controversies over alleged nurse abuse, pressure for a rebound breakup, apologies and explanations via social media live streams, and other disputes. She has previously exposed financial conflicts and tax issues with her older sister.
