A Nepalese Sherpa boy named Rai, who has a special connection with broadcaster and webtoon artist Kian84, was spotted in Korea. It draws attention because it came right after the Nepal flood disaster.
On the 4th, Rai posted the words "South Korea" along with a Taegeukgi emoji and a photo on his social media.
In the released photo, Rai is being photographed on the Asan campus of Sunmoon University in Asan, Chungcheongnam-do. Dressed in an all-black suit with sunglasses, Rai has his hands in his pockets and is striking a pose.
According to Gambir, a Nepalese businessman and actor, Rai recently began studying and living in Korea as an international student.
The reason Rai's whereabouts are drawing attention is the recent massive flood disaster in Nepal. Earlier, a large-scale flood occurred in the Himalayan mountain region on the China-Nepal border, and the number of flood deaths in Nepal, as counted by the Nepal Disaster Management Authority, has risen to at least 1,259.
Chinese casualties have also risen to at least 21, making the total death toll 1,280, while the number of missing people is 5,083 in Nepal and 541 in China, totaling 5,624.
Rai and Tamang are familiar as Kian84's local younger brothers on MBC's Adventure by Accident season 4. The Sherpa boys, who climbed the Nepalese Himalayas wearing slippers, were invited to Korea and formed a relationship by spending time with Kian84.
After the flood disaster, there was interest in Rai and Tamang's condition, and Kian84 himself said "they are safe" while sharing an update. After Rai was spotted in Korea, there is also growing interest in Tamang's condition.
