Comedian Lee Seon-min was abruptly chosen as the representative face to widely promote the charms of his hometown, Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
According to his agency Metacomedy on the 4th, Lee Seon-min has been appointed as a Gumi city promotional ambassador and will begin full-scale hometown promotion activities.
Lee Seon-min will attend the appointment ceremony, a preliminary event of the opening ceremony of the "2026 Gumi local food festa," held on the main stage at Seoul Plaza at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, and will receive an appointment plaque. On that day, Lee Seon-min is expected to take the lead in promoting Gumi's tastes and charms, not only through the ambassador appointment ceremony but also by directly introducing excellent local agricultural products.
Through his agency, Lee Seon-min said, "I am even more honored and truly grateful to be appointed as an ambassador for my hometown, Gumi," and added, "Since I have been given this great opportunity, I will get out on the ground to widely promote Gumi's various charms to many people."
Earlier, Lee Seon-min visited his hometown Gumi on MBC's "Hangout With Yoo," where he excelled as a one-day guide leading the members and revealed his extraordinary love for his hometown. At the time, even family members living in Gumi drew attention, leaving a strong impression on viewers.
In addition, Lee Seon-min has showcased his uniquely cheerful and approachable entertainment sensibility across flagship variety shows such as tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," MBC's "I Live Alone," and SBS's "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny." Recently, he has been spreading cheerful energy in various fields, including hosting "YouTube FanFest Korea 2026."
