Singer IU is making a surprise comeback.
On the 4th, the agency EDAM Entertainment released a teaser video on IU's official social media that hinted at a new digital release.
The video featured visuals reminiscent of a retro PC screen. On the screen, the phrase "IU DIGITAL SINGLE" appears alongside a symbol combining a crescent moon, Orbit, and a sphere with a mysterious glow. The release date and time for the new song, 2026.09.10. 18:00 (KST), were also revealed.
The music used in this teaser is the same music that briefly appeared in the "Please, star, grant my wish" video released on IU's official YouTube channel at the end of August. After that video was released, online speculation about the background music ran wild, and reactions expressing anticipation for IU's new music continued.
This new song is also significant because it is the first song IU is releasing in a year since the surprise digital single "Bye, Summer," which she released on Sept. 10 last year.
A representative said, "At that time, IU surprised fans by releasing a new song without prior notice as a special gift, and this year she returns with new music on the same day."
Meanwhile, IU postponed her Goyang concert and album release schedule due to a worsening of eustachian tube dysfunction.
