YouTuber and streamer Juice Seyeon's side again issued a position denying the allegations of taking psychotropic drugs.
The law firm Myosu, which represents Juice Seyeon, released an official statement on the 3rd saying, "This matter arose when Juice Seyeon, in a situation where conflicts with a dating partner had escalated, took a sleeping pill (containing zolpidem) that the partner possessed and was transported to the emergency room and treated."
It added, "Aside from this, there is no fact that Juice Seyeon received a proxy prescription for sleeping pills or was involved in such, and we make it clear that there is absolutely no fact that she illegally possessed or used drugs or marijuana."
It said it recognizes that the act at the time stemmed from legal ignorance and expressed remorse. The defense said, "Juice Seyeon did not fully understand the legal implications and dangers of taking someone else's sleeping pills at the time, but after legal counsel she clearly realized her wrongdoing and is deeply remorseful," the statement said.
It also rebutted recent allegations about hair bleaching by providing specific dates. Juice Seyeon's side emphasized, "Juice Seyeon appeared before investigative authorities on Aug. 4 and voluntarily provided her medical institution prescription and administration records and sincerely underwent questioning, and on that day she voluntarily submitted her unaltered hair for testing without any cuts or bleaching." It said the day she changed her hairstyle by cutting and bleaching was Aug. 25, about three weeks after the voluntary hair submission date, and unrelated to the police investigation.
"We politely ask that people refrain from unfounded and malicious slander suggesting that Juice Seyeon was involved in proxy prescriptions of sleeping pills or illegally obtained or used marijuana or drugs," adding, "We sincerely apologize for causing concern to many people."
Earlier on the 1st, Juice Seyeon held a live broadcast on her channel to explain the recent controversy.
On the broadcast, Juice Seyeon explained that she came under police investigation after a problem occurred when she took a sleeping pill prescribed to her boyfriend, streamer K. The book Thebooque said, "Something happened with oppa and I took oppa's medicine. Afterwards there was a problem in the process of going to the emergency room, and I came under police investigation." However, Juice Seyeon did not specify what happened to K.
According to the police, Juice Seyeon and three others, including streamer K, who is dating her publicly, have been booked and are under investigation on charges of misusing sleeping pills (zolpidem) classified as psychotropic drugs (violation of the Narcotics Control Act).
