Rapper MC MONG (real name Shin Dong-hyun), who was sued by singer Kim Min-jong on charges of defamation, reacted as if he was unconcerned about the lawsuit.
On the 3rd, MC MONG continued communicating with fans by holding a joint live stream with other BJs on TikTok.
That day, one BJ mentioned the lawsuit from Kim Min-jong, saying "there is something bad," and MC MONG said, "Have I been sued only once or twice? It's nothing special," adding, "I've been sued twice and both times I was cleared of wrongdoing."
He went on to say, "I won't have a birthday party tomorrow. Let's go to a nightclub," and "Let's book a room and get bookings," showing that the defamation lawsuit had little impact on him.
Earlier the previous day, Kim Min-jong's side said it had filed a complaint with the Jongno Police Station in Seoul against MC MONG on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).
Last May, MC MONG raised allegations of illegal gambling involvement by naming Kim Min-jong. At the time, Kim Min-jong protested that it was "a clear falsehood" and immediately said he would take legal action.
According to Kim Min-jong's legal representative, as the claim spread through the media and online, the reputation and trust he had built over about 38 years since his debut in 1988 were seriously damaged, and tangible harm occurred, such as discussions for a Hollywood next project that were specifically under negotiation at the time and two advertising contract negotiations being halted.
Kim Min-jong's side added, "We can no longer tolerate damage caused by facts that are clearly different. We will sincerely cooperate with the investigation and sequentially proceed with legal measures including civil claims for damages," and said, "If further dissemination occurs, we will take a hard line without any compromise, such as filing for provisional injunctions."
