The film Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub (director Choi Guk-hee) released a collaboration poster with the original comic. This poster draws attention by combining original artwork personally drawn by Heo Yeong with the film poster design.
The poster expresses the divergent fates of Jang Tae-young and Park Tae-young through two faces split into black-and-white on the left and red on the right of the frame. A copy reading "the friend I trusted most became the most cruel hand" is added along with the chip crossing between the two, foreshadowing a story that begins with a friend's betrayal.
The original Tazza part 4, "The Song of Beelzebub," first met readers through newspaper serialization in the early 2000s. The work depicts a man who loses everything because of a friend's betrayal and sets out for revenge, and it is considered one of the Tazza series with particularly clear conflict structure. This makes Tazza the only work whose parts one through four have all been adapted into films.
For the original author Heo Yeong, the film adaptation of "The Song of Beelzebub" is a work realized after a long wait. Heo Yeong said on a broadcast last year, "Part 4 of Tazza, 'The Song of Beelzebub,' received investment and the film production work has begun in earnest," adding, "Part 4 of Tazza is the most dramatic among the series." This revealed that he showed the greatest affection for "The Song of Beelzebub" among the four works.
Director Choi Guk-hee also recalled the time he met Heo Yeong after the film adaptation was confirmed. Heo Yeong said he liked "The Song of Beelzebub" most among the Tazza series and asked, "Why isn't such a great comic being produced?" Director Choi said that this remark turned the burden of the work into a sense of responsibility, expressing deep respect for the original.
At the production presentation, Byun Yo-Han also conveyed his special affection for the original. He said, "Heo Yeong always portrayed human psychology through the cards and crafted lines that felt like a sharp blade," and "I want to convey those emotions well to the audience."
Thus, Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub, completed by both actors and the director based on respect and affection for the original, foretells the birth of a new Tazza by adding direction suited to the present era to the solid story of the original.
