Actor Ryu Jun-yeol said that if he could eat someone's fingernail and become that person, he would want to be soccer player Lionel Messi.
On the 1st, an interview with Ryu Jun-yeol about the Netflix series "Mousetrap" was held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
"Mousetrap" is a tracking thriller about novelist Moon Jae, who has his name, face and life entirely taken by the mysterious being Mousetrap; debt collector Noja, who tries to recover lost money; and detective Sun-yong, who chase the identity of the Mousetrap and the events that unfold.
That day Ryu Jun-yeol mentioned film production as a reason for changing agencies and said, "Maybe because I majored in film, I want to produce and roll around there. When I go to film festivals and meet filmmakers, I feel many emotions; there is a strange feeling that comes when you sit in a theater," he said.
He added, "At film festivals I watch five to six films a day. I also sleep in the theater, and when I wake up I am happy. Even waking up from sleep is so happy, and even if I leave without seeing everything it's still so good. Feeling that makes me think I should make a film."
A question arose asking whether his role model was So Jisub. So Jisub, together with the film distributor Chanran, has invested in more than 30 works since 2014 to help make various films available in Korean theaters.
Ryu Jun-yeol said, "Recently I went to a preview screening and told senior So Jisub, 'Thanks to you I saw a good film,' and I indirectly felt that he was very proud. I want to feel that, too. Whether I make films or import them, that would be great."
In the case of "Mousetrap," which Ryu Jun-yeol stars in, the work is based on the traditional folktale "the nail-eating mousetrap." If Ryu Jun-yeol could eat someone's fingernail and become that person, whose life would he want to live?
Ryu Jun-yeol said, "After watching the World Cup I recently became curious about Messi and the life of sports stars," and added, "It's more like sports than sports stars. Acting on stage and competing on a stage called the pitch — I'm curious about the emotions you feel when you compete there."
