'You Quiz on the Block' actor Im Chae-mu revealed why he used his income to build an amusement park along with his tremendous asset.
On the 2nd broadcast of tvN 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereinafter 'You Quiz'), actor Im Chae-mu appeared. At 78 years old, he looked surprisingly young and healthy, and he brushed off compliments about himself with a playful remark.
The 'Duriland' that Im Chae-mu built is an amusement park in Yangju-si, made up of a four-story building. Im Chae-mu said, "I estimated just the floor area at 700 pyeong. I wanted to make it so people could avoid the rain, but I realized with only this much I couldn't invite guests. So I kept adding one floor after another." Im Chae-mu said, "I built, welded and painted about 70 to 80% of the current facilities myself," and added, "If you think anything is hard, you can't do it. It's fun. When it is completed, the joy is known to no one," with a look of no regrets.
He said the amount he poured in was 25 billion won and said, "I've never tried to recover the money spent nor calculated it, but if you compare the money I earned and the assets I sold off, it would be about that," saying he sold his camper van, yacht, Anseong villa, Mokdong commercial building and two Yeouido houses. Im Chae-mu said, "If I still had all those apartments, the 63 building might have been mine," which surprised everyone. On operating at a loss, Im Chae-mu joked, "I started by borrowing money. I'm a debtor. My older brother's name is Chae-gwon, I'm Chae-mu, and my younger sibling is Chae-um," covering small jokes as well.
Im Chae-mu's daughter Ms. Dur i is the manager of Duriland, and she runs the amusement park with her father and mother. Ms. Duri said, "My father is really happy when children like it. He says, 'See, the kids said they liked it,' " she said.
Also, Im Chae-mu recently coordinated with social welfare organizations so that children with disabilities can use the amusement park. Im Chae-mu said, "The children feel everything. I also prepared performances for the children," and added, "Even if they don't look at me, if I see the children smiling, that's enough," conveying his deeply felt sentiment.
