Famous BJ couple Juice Seyeon (26) and K (37) are under police investigation on suspicion of taking sleeping pills classified as psychotropic drugs.
On the 1st, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul said they had booked three people, including Juice Seyeon and K, on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act on July 30 and are currently investigating.
According to the police, they are suspected of taking sleeping pills that fall under psychotropic drugs. Among them, when it became known that K had previously been booked on suspicion of "proxy prescription of sleeping pills," K personally acknowledged on a private live broadcast that he had been questioned by the police.
At the time, K said on a live broadcast, "There was an article about proxy prescription of sleeping pills, and it was me. I was investigated for that matter. I am now (prescribing) normally," saying he was the BJ who was investigated by the police on suspicion of receiving a proxy prescription for sleeping pills.
K said, "I am sorry for causing this problem. I underwent the investigation faithfully, and we are just waiting for the results," expressing apology for causing controversy.
Under the current Medical Service Act, in principle only patients who have been directly examined by a doctor may receive a prescription. Even when proxy prescriptions are exceptionally allowed, they are limited to cases in which the patient is unconscious, is markedly unable to move, or has received the same prescription for the same illness over a long period. Those who may receive a prescription on behalf of the patient are also limited by law to the patient's direct descendants and ascendants, spouse, the spouse's direct ascendants, siblings, and workers at elderly care facilities, among other legally specified scopes.
Initially only news of K's investigation was reported, but the fallout is growing after it was additionally confirmed that Juice Seyeon, who is in a romantic relationship, has also come under police investigation on the same suspicion.
In particular, the police have determined that the suspects, including Juice Seyeon and K, received proxy prescriptions for sleeping pills classified as psychotropic drugs through acquaintances and then took them.
The police are currently known to be investigating the specific circumstances of their drug use and the proxy prescription process.
