Medical reporter Hong Hye-geol mentioned his wife Yeo Esther's good deeds, then expressed conflicted feelings after a backlash.
On the 2nd, Hong Hye-geol opened up on his personal social media, saying, "Many of you may have noticed, but I try to live kindly or try to appear kind."
Hong Hye-geol said, "But one difficulty has arisen. Some people point out that they are harmed by the promotion of your kindness. For example, if you give a lot of tips to caddies or drivers, it damages fair pricing and makes those who pay the regular price stingy."
He added, "Recently, giving a nearby home (a small officetel) to the housekeeper who helped with household chores made households that cannot afford such help uncomfortable."
Earlier, Hong Hye-geol appeared on MBC's Radio Star, which aired on the 19th of last month, and said his wife Yeo Esther bought a house in the Gangnam area close to the residence of a housekeeper she had cared for for more than 10 years.
Hong Hye-geol also said, "I said that in the hot summer the apartment lobby should be cooled for the staff, and I received complaints from residents saying, 'You wealthy person should pay for it,'" then confessed, "Those are all reasonable criticisms. Life in this world is really complicated and difficult."
