On the 1st, the YouTube channel 'Hwang Bo-ra Boraitie' uploaded a video titled 'Went to the psychiatrist with my mother because dementia was suspected — why Hwang Bo-ra was shocked'.
On that day Hwang Bo-ra took her mother and said "We're going to the hospital to check brain health and the likelihood of developing dementia because it might be good to know in advance. Please let there be nothing wrong" as they headed to the hospital.
After arriving at the hospital, her mother underwent various tests such as cognitive function tests and electroencephalogram tests. After the tests, perhaps feeling uncomfortable, her mother complained to Hwang Bo-ra, "This is not the time to be getting these kinds of tests."
Hwang Bo-ra said, "Didn't mom say she wanted to get tested too? Dad said he wanted to get tested," showing a bickering moment. Earlier Hwang Bo-ra had said it was very difficult to persuade her mother to take the test.
The diagnosing doctor surprised everyone by saying of Hwang Bo-ra's mother, "She has severe depression." The somewhat fortunate thing was the expectation that her mother's forgetfulness symptoms might be temporary.
The doctor advised, "Stress management must be well handled. Get rest and start exercising with family," and Hwang Bo-ra's mother confessed, "I want to open up to people, but it's difficult because my daughter is a celebrity."
Meanwhile, Hwang Bo-ra married Kim Young-hoon, the son of actor Kim Yong-gun and the brother of Ha Jung-woo, and after infertility treatment she welcomed her son Woo-in in 2024.
