Comedian Kim Shin-young will leave 'Jeonghee', which she has led for 14 years, for three months.
On the MBC FM4U program Jeong-o-ui huimanggok Kim Shin-young imnida broadcast on the 31st, Kim Shin-young delivered the surprising news of her departure, drawing attention.
That day a listener asked, "These days I think a lot about how to spend my time. Cindy, how do you handle your time these days?" and Kim Shin-young cautiously began, "I treat time very precious and every minute and second is too wasteful when it passes," adding, "and actually I do have something to tell you all."
She said, "I started hosting 'Jeong-o-ui huimanggok' when I was exactly 30. I am now 44, so I have been hosting it for 14 years. I think I have thought about that for a very long time. I thought about how my days add up and how I will plan and shape my life going forward."
She continued, "After all, radio is a daily broadcast. Because of that, the company I founded to pursue my dream is called 'Gojingamrae.' When I need to hold meetings for my company, meetings are usually from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. I could not keep those hours very well. So I want to make company work a bit more substantial and then return to radio without getting exhausted, so I made a decision." She said she would leave radio for three months starting Sept. 1 to focus on running the company.
Kim Shin-young said, "I will check my health again. My health is actually fine; I could even chew stones. My health is very good, but for a second chapter of my life I need to strengthen my company a bit more, meetings and so on. I want to properly set up company operations and catch up on many tasks I have put off. I will reorganize and come back. I think wonderful special DJs and great guests will well fill in while I am gone. Above all, I humbly ask for wide understanding from our Jeonghee listeners."
After that, listeners sent messages of support to Kim Shin-young, and she said, "Listeners are sending me supportive texts. Honestly, if I had a lot of broadcast schedules I could still do radio. But because of company work — my company is an IP company — I need to meet with office staff in various ways. So I thought I would like to tidy up the company for about three months. For my life."
She added, "My dream is to come back while bringing better news to the listeners. This is the end of the last day of August. From tomorrow I will be away for three months, but I believe our Jeonghee listeners will warmly and kindly fill the space. I will self-check, take care of the company, take some time, and return well. I will see you in three months. Stay well, everyone," she offered as a final farewell.
Kim Shin-young also shared a clip of the scene on her social media, saying, "Goodbye for a moment." Meanwhile, starting on the 1st, comedian Lee Guk-joo is serving as a special DJ and hosting 'Jeonghee.'
Meanwhile, Kim Shin-young established the joint-stock company Gojingamrae in 2020 and is operating it. Recently, under the name 'Gojingamrae' she launched a denim fashion brand and successfully completed a pop-up store in Shibuya, Japan, last July, achieving her dream as a fashion director and receiving many congratulations.
