The movie "The Odyssey 2026" surpassed $1.5 billion in global box office revenue.
According to Box Office Mojo, "The Odyssey 2026" earned about $563,800,000 in North America and $988,800,000 overseas, bringing its worldwide total to roughly $1,553,000,000. In Hanwha terms, that amounts to an astonishing 2.1276 trillion won.
Its worldwide box office ranking also surpassed Marvel's "The Avengers" (2012) to reach 14th. It is about $100 million behind the 13th-ranked live-action film "The Lion King" (2019). "The Odyssey 2026" is still performing strongly over a long run, and because some countries have yet to release the film, attention is focused on how much additional revenue it may earn and whether it can reach the top 10.
According to foreign media, the production cost of "The Odyssey 2026" was about $250 million (Hanwha 342.6 billion won), and it was reported to be the most expensive production among Christopher Nolan's films. It recouped its production cost in the opening week with $264,100,000 (about 364 billion won) in opening revenue, and has so far earned revenue equal to six times its production cost. It also dethroned "The Dark Knight Rises" to become Christopher Nolan's highest-grossing film.
Domestically, it drew 9 million cumulative admissions in 27 days after release, making this week's surpassing of 10 million admissions highly likely. That is three days faster than the last foreign film to reach 10 million, "Avatar: The Way of Water" (on its 30th day), and it continues its unstoppable box office run into its fifth week.<
