The film 'The Odyssey 2026', which is writing a new box office legend by surpassing 8 million viewers in 24 days since release, the shortest record this year, is continuing its unstoppable box office run by ranking No. 1 at the overall box office for 26 consecutive days.
According to the integrated movie ticketing system, 'The Odyssey 2026' did not lose the top spot at the box office for even a single day after its Aug. 5 (Wed) release, and during the fourth-weekend three days from Aug. 28 to 30 it attracted 1,058,636 viewers, claiming the No. 1 spot at the overall weekend box office for four consecutive weeks. This is the third film in domestic releases this year to record four straight weekends at No. 1 at the overall weekend box office after 'The King's Warden' and 'Colony', and it is more meaningful as the first record for a foreign film. It shows the overwhelming box office heat of 'The Odyssey 2026' that has not cooled even as it approaches a month since opening.
In particular, this record draws more attention because it surpasses the fourth-weekend audience numbers of Christopher Nolan's 10-million-admission film 'Interstellar' (908,500), as well as domestic 10-million-admission films 'Exhuma' (712,630) and 'The Roundup: Punishment' (418,733). In addition, now entering its fifth week since release, it has firmly held the top overall reservation rate, demonstrating unwavering box office strength amid the onslaught of new releases, raising expectations for continued long-term success.
