Actor Kim Hee-jeong is transforming into a "tough-as-nails mother" who devoted her life to her family.
The new KBS 1TV daily drama Mama has gone mad, directed by Sungjunhae and written by Na Seung-hyun, which premieres on Sep. 28 at 8:30 p.m., depicts a turbulent family coming-of-age story in which a mother who lived her whole life for her family, a mother who lived her whole life for herself, and the children who are like enemies to the two mothers become entangled.
In the drama, Kim Hee-jeong plays Jo Mi-mi, the mother of Kang Da-mi (played by Jung Min-ah) and the owner of "Mimi's samgyetang." Jo Mi-mi is a resilient mother who raised three children alone while caring for her mother-in-law even after her husband set up a new household with another woman. Just as she felt relieved that she had raised her children properly while running the samgyetang restaurant, a series of incidents involving her three children brings another fierce wave into Jo Mi-mi's life, who has lived looking only to her family her whole life.
Among them, stills released on the 31st capture various images of Jo Mi-mi living bravely while taking responsibility for both work and family, attracting attention. Her comfortable and simple attire reveals the resilience and warm character that have been evident from years of running around for her family. On the other hand, the determined look in her eyes, as if she has resolved not to solve her children's problems anymore, hints at the tumultuous battle for independence Jo Mi-mi will wage, raising curiosity.
Jo Mi-mi is a "candy-type mother" who does not give up despite all kinds of hardships and keeps moving forward. Kim Hee-jeong will add depth to the character by realistically portraying the process of a woman who became accustomed to the role of mother and lived putting herself last reclaiming her name and choosing a new life.
