Comedian Kim Gi-yeol welled up as he remembered colleague Yang Sang-guk, who stood by him during difficult times.
On the 31st broadcast of KBS2 "Malja Show," Kim Gi-yeol revealed that both of his parents battled cancer while discussing his family's health.
Kim Gi-yeol said he lost his father several years ago and that his mother is fighting the disease while receiving chemotherapy. He said that although everyone seems likely to live healthily, when he looks around, he believes it is by no means a given that an entire family can live without any pain.
He added, "I don't think there is such a thing as a perfectly healthy household," and emphasized that the fact an entire family can live healthily is, above all, a great blessing. He said he hoped it would be a comfort to his mother watching the broadcast.
In the process, the person Kim Gi-yeol was especially grateful to was Yang Sang-guk. The friend who rushed over first when his father's funeral took place was Yang Sang-guk. Kim recalled that Yang not only offered his condolences and left but said, "There will be a funeral procession," and stayed by his side until the end. He recalled with gratitude that the condolence money was also generous.
Kim Gi-yeol said, "I cry when I think of Yang Sang-guk," and that he still cannot forget the support he received at that time. He added that he is happy to see Yang, who had a period when things did not go well for him, recently active again and sincerely wished his friend well.
A friend who showed up first in hard times and stayed until the very end. Yang Sang-guk's quiet loyalty remained deeply with Kim Gi-yeol, to the point that he still shed tears even after a long time had passed.<
