Ye Esther shares an updated condition that has changed significantly after depression treatment.
On Sept. 1, KBS 2TV 'Problem Child in House' will feature the married doctor couple Ye Esther and 홍혜걸 appearing together, in their 33rd year of marriage.
On that broadcast, Ye Esther reveals the changed daily life after receiving depression treatment, drawing attention.
Ye Esther, who once contemplated euthanasia due to severe depression, said "Since Oct. of last year, I no longer have bad thoughts," conveying a markedly improved condition. After being hospitalized at a university hospital and receiving electroconvulsive therapy 28 times, her depressive symptoms have clearly improved.
Ye Esther revealed, "When I was hospitalized, 홍혜걸 had not long before undergone a lung resection for ground-glass opacity, so I did not tell him about my hospitalization," she said. In response, 홍혜걸 said, "She didn't tell me when Ye Esther was hospitalized, so I didn't know (about the hospitalization)," expressing that he was surprised when he learned the fact later. The sincerity 홍혜걸 conveys to Ye Esther, who endured a difficult time receiving depression treatment without even telling her husband, will be revealed in the broadcast.
홍혜걸 later said he is preparing a special trip for his wife Ye Esther, drawing attention. Saying he plans an Africa trip as a couple to mark his 60th birthday, 홍혜걸 said he deliberately booked only "nonrefundable" accommodations for Ye Esther, who had been lying in bed all day because of depression. Viewers will be curious about why 홍혜걸 planned a trip with nonrefundable bookings for his wife.
Meanwhile, 홍혜걸 said that since recently moving in with Ye Esther he no longer receives cash allowances, drawing the MCs' interest. He said he received cash allowances from Ye Esther when he lived in Jeju Island, but after moving to Seoul to live together the cash allowances disappeared.
To this, 홍혜걸 said, "Because I know Ye Esther's safe's password, I take out and use cash when I need it," surprising everyone. He added, "Ye Esther hasn't shopped for six to seven years. I'm the only one who spends money in this house," he joked, reportedly eliciting the MCs' envy.
