Japanese animated films that were hugely popular in the 2000s will arrive in Korea's theaters one after another next month. The Inuyasha feature film will open in Korea for the first time, and the first two Digimon Adventure feature films will screen together as a compilation.
Inuyasha the Movie: Affections Touching Across Time opens Sept. 9 at CGV. The film follows the half-demon Inuyasha and the girl Kagome as they face the yokai Menomaru, and although it was released in 2001, this is its first theatrical release in Korea.
Digimon Adventure: Our War Game! & Our War Game! will meet audiences Sept. 16 at Megabox. It is a compilation that lets viewers watch the first feature film, Our War Game! (1999), and the second feature film, Our War Game! (2000), in one sitting.
Director Hosoda Mamoru's representative work The Girl Who Leapt Through Time will also be re-released the same day. A coming-of-age fantasy about a girl named Makoto who Wooyeonly gains the ability to leap through time, it drew more than 50,000 viewers when it opened in Korea in 2007.
A Letter to Momo, which drew about 300,000 viewers in Korea in 2012, returns to theaters Sept. 2. It tells the story of a girl named Momo who, after losing her father and moving with her mother to a strange island village, meets yokai friends in the attic and the events that follow.
