Singer Sung Si Kyung's liquor brand "Gyeong (璄)" is taking on a new challenge by unveiling its first distilled soju, "Gyeong Soju 51% First Batch."
"Gyeong Soju 51% First Batch" will be released exclusively through Gyeong's official mall on Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. It is Gyeong's first distilled soju and is characterized by being made with 100% domestically produced rice distillate.
Using domestic rice as the raw material, it is distilled twice under atmospheric pressure and preserves the rice and distillation-derived distinctive flavors by not undergoing cooling filtration. Subtle rice aroma, a natural sweetness and a clean, continuing finish are in harmony.
During development, Gyeong conducted tests at various alcohol strengths and ultimately chose 51% as the final proof to best express the product's taste and aroma. Rather than simply emphasizing a high proof, it was completed so consumers can slowly savor the aroma and taste and enjoy the inherent charm of distilled soju.
Ahead of the official release, Sung Si Kyung, along with Shin Dong-yeob, John Park, Lee Dae-hyung and Park Yong-taek, tasted Gyeong Soju first. Despite the high 51% proof, they reacted positively to the balance of aroma and flavor, increasing expectations for the product.
Even before its release, the product's quality was recognized at global liquor competitions. It earned a Spirit Silver 91 points at the IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) 2026, won Silver at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) 2026 and received the Silver Medal in the soju category at the International Spirits Challenge (ISC) 2026.
The first production run will add rarity by being presented in a limited package fitting the name "First Batch." It will be sold in a single 300ml size in limited quantities on Gyeong's official mall.
A Gyeong representative said the following: "Gyeong Soju 51% is a product we prepared over a long time that embodies Gyeong's standards for distilled soju from raw materials to distillation method and proof," and added, "Because this is the first batch and is offered in limited quantities, we recommend that those who wish to purchase complete official mall registration and age verification in advance."
