MBC entertainment show I Live Alone said it received administrative and filming assistance from the Almaty city tourism authority in connection with allegations of fabrication surrounding broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo's impromptu trip to Kazakhstan.
The I Live Alone production team said on the official website on the 31st that "for the Kazakhstan episode, there was no financial sponsorship or production cost support from the Almaty city tourism authority," but added, "we received cooperation for administrative procedures needed for local filming and for on-site filming support, which allowed things to proceed smoothly."
On the broadcast on the 14th, Jun Hyun-moo was shown choosing a destination on the spot at the airport, flying to Almaty, Kazakhstan, and renting a car to travel. But after the broadcast, as criticism emerged that to drive in Kazakhstan you need documents notarized in advance, questions were raised over whether it was truly an impromptu trip.
Adding to this, the Almaty city government introduced on its official website on the 21st that I Live Alone was filmed with support from the Almaty city tourism bureau, fueling the controversy. In response, the production team flatly denied this on the 25th, saying, "there was no filming support or sponsorship."
