MBC 'I Live Alone' clarified various allegations surrounding Jun Hyun-moo's trip to Kazakhstan directly, but the controversy is not subsiding. Some criticism has even turned toward Jun Hyun-moo's personal social media, and aftershocks appear to be continuing.
Recently, comments demanding explanations about the Kazakhstan trip shown on I Live Alone have been repeatedly posted on Jun Hyun-moo's social media. The broadcast depicted Jun Hyun-moo deciding on a destination at the airport and leaving for Almaty, Kazakhstan, using a sudden 2 Days & 1 Night break that appeared amid his busy schedule.
However, after the broadcast, questions were raised that renting a car locally actually requires separate procedures, and whether it is realistically possible to decide on an overseas shoot on the spot with multiple filming staff accompanying him. The controversy grew further when the city of Almaty introduced the broadcast on the Kazakhstan government website and revealed that there was "support from the Almaty tourism office."
In response, the production team drew a line in an interview with OSEN on the 25th, saying, "We did not receive any filming support or sponsorship regarding this Kazakhstan trip." They also explained that regarding the rental car, they submitted the international driving permit and passport requested by the local company just before departure and rented the vehicle.
However, they acknowledged that after the broadcast they confirmed with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan and belatedly realized that a separate notarization procedure was required. The production team said, "We will be more meticulous in producing broadcasts going forward."
Despite the production team's official explanation, some viewers' doubts persist. On Jun Hyun-moo's personal social media, reactions demanding further explanation of the broadcast included, "I thought it was an impromptu trip and feel disappointed," "Please explain the rental car notarization issue," and "I'm curious how even the staff could go on an impromptu overseas shoot." One netizen's comment, left in the sense of "I got courage from watching the impromptu trip but feel deceived if it was a thoroughly planned trip," received hundreds of likes.
The problem goes beyond questioning the broadcast; there are even abusive comments targeting Jun Hyun-moo personally. Some netizens used expressions like "staged broadcast" or poured out sharp criticism accusing Jun Hyun-moo of lying. Allegations related to the production process have thus spread into attacks on the individual cast member.
Currently the production team denies sponsorship and filming support allegations and has admitted insufficient confirmation regarding the rental car procedures. Still, since viewers' questions focus on how "impromptu" the "impromptu trip" actually was, it is uncertain whether the controversy will be completely resolved. Attention is focused on whether the production team will offer additional explanations or whether the official position already announced will be the end and the controversy will die down.
