Love On The Menu Ahn Heeyeon took a step toward Ha Seok-jin.
On the 30th, episode 12 of the KBS 2TV weekend drama Love On The Menu (directed by Hong Seok-gu, written by Lee Kyung-hee) aired, presenting a variety of stories from Han Gyurim (Ahn Heeyeon), who declared each-for-himself survival to her family, to his decision to go find Kim Mujin (Ha Seok-jin). That broadcast recorded a 17.0% viewership rating (Nielsen Korea, nationwide households), setting a new personal best and ranking first among all weekend broadcasts.
That day Han Gyurim announced to her family that she would step down from her role as eldest daughter. She told her family, "You have to move within three months," and ordered them to each find a place to live, signaling the start of serious each-for-himself survival. Han Gyurim's decisive change, after sacrificing herself for her family, drew viewers' support.
Kim Mujin approached by preparing cooking ingredients himself to win back Ko Yoon-hee (played by Yoon Yoo-sun). But Ko Yoon-hee drew a cold line, saying, "Was the effort you said you were making just something that embarrassed people?" Ko Yoon-hee, who harbors reasons for opposition she could not even tell her husband Jang Hoon-tae (Kwon Hae-hyo), pushed Kim Mujin away and was shown suffering alone, evoking pity.
Jo Heung-sik (played by Bae Jeong-nam) stepped in to stop Park Su-nam (played by Kang Ae-sim) from berating Han Gyurim. He demanded that Park Su-nam sign a written pledge not to harass Han Gyurim, tore up a "help wanted" notice posted at the side-dish shop, and said he would help Han Gyurim with the work himself. Later, watching Han Gyurim working bravely alone through the shop window, Jo Heung-sik's relief showed his dependable support and added warmth to the drama.
But Park Su-nam's harassment continued. Park Su-nam warned Han Gyurim sharply, "Experience how cold a person I am," nitpicked the side-dishes' taste, and, despite Han Gyurim's resolve, vented anger saying, "Where is the future?" She even drove Han Gyurim by giving an unreasonable order to buy whole garlic, peel it and use it.
Meanwhile, Ko Yoon-hee visited the side-dish shop to meet her biological daughter Han Gyurim. Because she had hidden her face with sunglasses and a mask, Han Gyurim did not recognize Ko Yoon-hee and went out on deliveries amid Park Su-nam's abuse. Seeing her daughter endure cruel words, Ko Yoon-hee took advantage of a tasting excuse to criticize Park Su-nam's side-dish and carried out a satisfying revenge. She then worried over how to get back at Park Su-nam, revealing a tender maternal love for her daughter.
Returning from a delivery, Han Gyurim encountered a child desperately looking for someone. The child was looking for a pet dog, and Han Gyurim stepped in and found the puppy. After finishing a grateful video call with the child, Han Gyurim said, "Thank you, Kim Mujin. Thanks to you I could at least call your name without restraint," expressing bittersweet feelings.
At the end of the broadcast Han Gyurim, saying, "I couldn't stand it even if I were punished by heaven," headed to Kim Mujin's restaurant. Kim Mujin was taken aback by Han Gyurim's sudden appearance as she nervously ordered kimchi fried rice, which wasn't on the menu. After deliberation, Kim Mujin decided to prepare the dish himself, and the scene of Han Gyurim waiting for him raised curiosity about what changes might come in their relationship.
