Actor the late Lee Yongju has passed away.
On the 31st at 6:30 a.m., a funeral procession for Lee Yongju was held at the Bundang Jesaeng Hospital funeral hall. The burial site is Seongnam City Funeral Culture Center.
The deceased suddenly died of cardiac arrest on the morning of the 29th. He was 44. News of the death of Lee Yongju was delivered through an acquaintance.
The late Lee Yongju's acquaintance wrote on social media, "My most precious friend, actor Lee Yongju suddenly passed away that morning from cardiac arrest," delivering the obituary.
The late Lee Yongju appeared on actor Lee Jong-Hyuk's YouTube channel in February and confessed that he was exempted from military service due to a heart condition. The late said at the time, "There is something wrong related to my heart." He was known to have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy during his life. Although he had not completed military service, he was praised for delivering a convincing new recruit performance in "New Recruit."
Also, on that broadcast he said he returned to Seoul after a failed business in Busan and began a new challenge. "I run a one-person travel agency near Moran Market in Seongnam," he said, and because he had been rebuilding himself only half a year earlier, the sudden news pained many people.
Comedian Kim Jae-woo wrote on his social media on the 30th, "When I go to the set, I still vividly see him walking from afar with a big smile. Yongju was a good person who sincerely cared about his colleagues and an actor more passionate than anyone," posting a tribute to the late Lee Yongju.
Actor Baek Bong-gi posted a photo with the late Lee Yongju on his social media and lamented, "Yongju… I cannot sleep thinking I will never see you again. I should have taken better care of you when you were here… I should have contacted you one more time and seen you more often… only regret remains," expressing sorrow.
Actor Jung Si-yeon, who worked with him on tvN's "푸른거탑", also mourned, "I should have tried contacting you one more time.. what was so urgent that you left so quickly… I hope you are at peace there without any worries. I will not forget the time we spent together. Goodbye, oppa," she wrote.
The late Lee Yongju, who debuted in the 2004 film "Doma An Jung-geun," appeared in dramas such as "Annyeong, Francesca," "Palace," the "My Name Is Kim Sam-soon" series, the "푸른거탑" series, "Odd Daughter-in-law," "Golden Pocket," "Bad Detective," "New Recruit," and films including "Type B Boyfriend," "Multicellular Girl," and "Dust-Collected Romance."
