Kwon Sang-woo celebrated his birthday modestly with his family in the United States and was genuinely happy to receive gifts from his son and daughter.
On the 30th, the Mrs. New Jersey Son Tae-young channel uploaded a video titled "Son Tae-young's full-course for Kwon Sang-woo celebrating his first-ever birthday in the United States (birthday table, luxury resort)."
On Aug. 5, Son Tae-young made seaweed soup for her husband Kwon Sang-woo's birthday and prepared side dishes such as braised tofu and braised short ribs. Kwon Sang-woo said, "The seasoning is just right," and ate the birthday table his wife prepared with relish. Afterwards, the two went out for a walk, and he said, "Today is my birthday and Son Tae-young made me seaweed soup. It felt like the seaweed soup my mother used to make. It was delicious," adding, "When I was young I liked my birthday just because it was my birthday, but as I get older I think more about my mother," and expressed gratitude to his parents.
He said they planned to have a birthday party in the afternoon, and Kwon Sang-woo said, "I ordered a very luxurious birthday cake from Son Tae-young," and laughed, "Our kids will write birthday letters, right? I told Riho to prepare a Rolex and Rukhee to prepare a Ferrari. They gave a nervous laugh and left." Son Tae-young said, "I told everyone the time of the party. If there are any gifts for dad, I told them to bring them all then."
Son Tae-young baked the cake Kwon Sang-woo wanted herself and said, "It's a cake I haven't even made for the kids," and began in earnest. With skilled hands she finished it in 40 minutes, and daughter Riho was in charge of decorating with jelly.
Daughter Riho handed him a handwritten note saying, "Happy birthday, daddy~," and wrote, "Thank you so much for always doing everything for our family. I love you~♥." Kwon Sang-woo said, "You have to give me a kiss," and Riho came forward to give a cheek kiss, but Kwon Sang-woo turned his head at the last moment and gave a kiss on the lips, drawing laughter. Elder son Rukhee gave his father a tumbler as a gift, moving Kwon Sang-woo.
After baking the cake, Son Tae-young gifted her husband a black jacket that suited him and said, "You can pass it down to Rukhee later." Kwon Sang-woo thanked her, saying, "You can pass this down. It's good."
Meanwhile, Kwon Sang-woo and Son Tae-young married in 2008, and the following year they welcomed son Rukhee and in 2015 daughter Riho. Son Tae-young has been living in New Jersey, U.S., since 2019 for her children's education.
