IVY, a singer and musical actress, became the first Korean to play Roxie Hart in Broadway's Chicago and shared updates from New York.
On the 30th, IVY posted on her social media, "New York week summary. I still haven't really had time to sightsee," and released several photos taken locally.
In the released photos, IVY conveyed the atmosphere of Roxie Hart with striking red lips, a short hairstyle and a black Race outfit. In a short post noting that it had been a week since she arrived in New York but she hadn't even been able to do proper sightseeing, her busy schedule focused on the Broadway stage was also revealed.
This stage is even more special because of IVY's long association with Chicago. IVY played Roxie Hart in the Korean production of Chicago from 2012 to 2024, appearing in about 600 performances over six seasons.
Having developed her own Roxie over 12 years, IVY is now meeting audiences in the character on Broadway in New York, the work's home. It is especially significant because she is the first Korean actor to play Roxie Hart in a Broadway production.
IVY, who entered Broadway with a character honed through hundreds of performances in Korea, will continue her new challenge as Roxie Hart in the Chicago Broadway production through Sept. 6.
